Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS Swim Campaign Rockets into Brand Phenom | Meet Yevonde, the Revolutionary British Photographer Inspiring Miu Miu’s New Campaign | Is the Possibility of Hérmes Overtaking Louis Vuitton for Real? Or Too Much Psilocybin?
Featured
SKIMS [IG] has pulled out all the stops in the new swimwear campaign shot by British fashion photographer Nick Knight [IG] founder and director of SHOWstudio.com. Knight is joined by stylist Carine Roitfeld [IG] the former EIC of Vogue Paris, founder of CR Fashion Book and its consulting agency.
Nick Knight and Carine Roitfeld together are as good as it gets, and we see the very visible results in these images.
Knight was the creative force behind the shoot, tasked with capturing the collection “in a style reminiscent of his classic and avant-garde fashion campaigns from the 2000s,” according to a press release from the brand.
AOC also raved about the Steven Klein ‘swimweat manifesto’ featuring Kim in the SKIMS June 2023 campaign. But the photography is very different in the two projects.
Read on at the AOC Body link. I compare the two campaigns from Steven Klein and now Nick Knight.
When the National Portrait Gallery, London, reopened in June 2023 following a three-year redevelopment closure, its first exhibition ‘Yevonde: Life and Colour’ centered on British photographer Yevonde Middleton [1893-1975]. The art event, which focused on the sixty-year career of a paradigm-breaking woman photographer, was sponsored by The CHANEL Culture Fund.
With the release of its new 2024 Leathergoods Campaign, Miu Miu [IG] is also inspired by the British photographer Yevonde Middleton.
An ode to color, to femininity, to fashion and to feminism, Miu Miu celebrates its signature matelassé in images by photographer legend Steven Meisel with art direction by Edward Quarmby. Starring Gigi Hadid as a modern reflection of the Miu Miu persona styled by Lotta Volkova, the images focus on the Wander and Arcadie bags. / Makeup by Pat McGrath; hair by Guido Palau
Writing for B of F, Kit Rees cites Citibank analyst Thomas Chauvet’s April 12 note making the case that “Hermès has potential to surpass LVMH’s flagship Louis Vuitton in the coming years.”
Chauvet is a Managing Director heading up Citi’s European Luxury Goods Equity Research team in London. He argues that based on Hermés, best-known for its Birkin bags, hitting the “symbolic” €20 billion ($21.3 billion) level by 2027 or before, they will be in a position to overtake Louis Vuitton, who reached that milestone in 2022.
How this argument of Hérmes overtaking Louis Vuitton by reaching $21.3 billion in 2027, when Louis Vuitton compounded at +10% 2023-27 gives us $34.3 billion in 2027 is absolutely a key reason why I don’t have Thomas Chauvet’s job.
But read me anyway.
Pop star Sabrina Carpenter fronts a new SKIMS campaign for the new Stretch Lace and Fits Everybody spring collections dropping April 3.
In a volley across the net, SKIMS — who is playing hardball with Victoria’s Secret — calls Stretch Lace offering “the most alluring underwear drop yet.”
Fresh off opening Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour shows in Australia and Singapore, and touring last fall with the pop star, not all Swifties were onboard with Sabrina Carpenter promoting SKIMS.
Kim and her ex-husband Kanye West have a very sketchy history with the biggest pop star on the planet.

Angelina Kendall in Paris for Vogue Australia — 100 Days Away from Olympics Opening Ceremony | Beyoncé’s Texas Hold ‘Em Luxury | Met Gala C-Chair Zendaya Blooms in Vogue US and Vogue UK May 2024 | Sydney Sweeney from Bloody Nun to Barbarella

The world is 100 days out from opening day of the 2024 Paris Olympics — and the magic is building. Vogue Australia’s April 2024 issue is happy to do their part promoting the City of Lights, loved deeply by so many of us.
‘From a Land Down Under’ calls the entire world to hop on Aussie model Angelina Kendall’s magic carpet for the 25 hrs flight from SYD to CDG. Whoosh! Kendall is lensed at the Australian Embassy in Paris by Juergen Teller [IG]
Olympic Security Concerns in Paria
Not to be Debbie Downer, but I checked this morning to verify my memory that it was Palestinian terrorists who massacred two members of the Israeli team at the Munich games in 1972. Confirmed.
French president Emmanuel Macron says the spectacular Opening Ceremony on the Seine has a backup plan in the case of significant concerns of a terrorist attack. Actually, there’s not only a plan B but also a plan C.
AOC has narrated the American cowboy story for years, most recently inspired by Pharrell’s Louis Vuitton Men’s FW 2024 show in January 2024.
Now his good friend from Houston is flying high on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs. The woman with the most awards in Grammy history holds the No.1 spot for the 8th week running with ‘Texas Hold Em’. Beyoncé is the first Black woman to achieve this goal on the Billboard Hot Country chart.
Here we find Beyoncé looking mighty fine with two digital covers and a fashion story in W Magazine, released March 29, 2024. Sara Moonves and Shiona Turini style America’s finest-looking cowboy femme in western luxury gone fine-tailoring.
Zendaya has no intention to make music anytime soon. Not only is her life overflowing with acting projects like her just-opened film ‘Challengers’, where her character Tashi, a fiercely-competitive tennis phenom turned coach over an accident, whips her husband into shape on the tennis court and in the bedroom.
Zendaya is the cover star for both American Vogue and British Vogue’s May 2024 issues, photographed for American Vogue [IG] in these images by Annie Leibovitz [IG] and for British Vogue by Carlijn Jacobs.
Zendaya is a co-chair of this year’s Met Gala, joining Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth. Loewe's creative director Jonathan Anderson and TikTok CEO Chew are Honorary Met Gala chairs.
Actor Sydney Sweeney covers the April 2024 issue of Harper’s Bazaar Spain, an issue paying special attention to crafts, workshops and trades that combine tradition and innovation.
Sweeney herself takes multiple covers, styled in ‘The Cool Girl’ fashion story by Elizabeth Sulcer. Photographer David Roemer [IG] is in the studio on location in Los Angeles.
Sweeney woke up one day on nun TikTok, which she described as a “vast, vast place to be.” Her new horror thriller ‘Immaculate’ opened in US theaters end of March. With another undiscussed project in development, Sweeney will then turn to ‘Barbarella’. Now that is a stunning range of projects — perhaps a true commentary on women’s lives.
